چکیده

As a preprocessing, we selected the co-expressed genes with a statistical significance level. For this purpose, we performed t-test for the Pearson’s correlation coefficients in the range from 5×10 to 10 significance probability. By the correspondence between the significance probability and the previous biological knowledge about the co-expression genes, the thresholds were estimated to be 10 and 5×10 in the present analysis.

Expression Levels of Two DNA Repair-related Genes under 8 Gy Ionizing Radiation and 100 Mg/Kg Melatonin Delivery In Rat Peripheral Blood

Background: After radiation therapy (RT), some health hazards including DNA damages may occur where melatonin can play a protective role due to free radical generation. On the other hand, serious accidental overexposures may occur during RT due to nuclear accidents which necessitate the need for study on exposure to high-dose radiations during treatments. Objective: The aim of this study was to ...

XPB induces C1D expression to counteract UV-induced apoptosis.

Although C1D has been shown to be involved in DNA double-strand break repair, how C1D expression was induced and the mechanism(s) by which C1D facilitates DNA repair in mammalian cells remain poorly understood. We and others have previously shown that expression of xeroderma pigmentosum B (XPB) protein efficiently compensated the UV irradiation-sensitive phenotype of 27-1 cells, which lack func...

YCF and YAP gene expressions in yeast cells after irradiation combined with mercury treatment

Background: All aerobically growing organisms suffer from exposure to oxidative stress, caused by partially reduced forms of molecular oxygen, known as reactive oxygen species (ROS). These are highly reactive and capable of damaging cellular constituents such as DNA, lipids and proteins. Consequently, cells from many different organisms have evolved mechanisms to protect their components...

Involvement of the cgtA gene function in stimulation of DNA repair in Escherichia coli and Vibrio harveyi.

CgtA is a member of the Obg/Gtp1 subfamily of small GTP-binding proteins. CgtA homologues have been found in various prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms, ranging from bacteria to humans. Nevertheless, despite the fact that cgtA is an essential gene in most bacterial species, its function in the regulation of cellular processes is largely unknown. Here it has been demonstrated that in two bacte...

Assessment of Adaptive Response of Gamma Radiation in the Operating Room Personnel Exposed to Anesthetic Gases by Measuring the Relative Gene Expression Changes Ku80, Ligase1 and P53

Background: Some operating room personnel are occupationally exposed to genotoxic agents such as anesthetic gases and ionizing radiation. Adaptive response, as a defense mechanism, will occur when cells become exposed to a low dose of factors harming DNA (priming dose), which in the subsequent exposure to higher dose of those factors (challenging dose), show more resistance and sensibility.. <b...
